Our Goals:

The Rehabilitated Project (TRP) is a nonprofit charitable trust formed under the laws of the State of Nevada.  During 2007, its first year, it plans on accomplishing the following objectives:

  1. Complete its IRC §501(c)(3) application and receive non-profit status from the United States.  As TRP is now formed, it our belief that we will qualify easily under the federal nonprofit rules.

  2. Build a coalition of restorative justice groups around the United States to assist in the education of Americans about the need for restorative justice principles to be generally applied to ex-offenders such as found in the schema of the Second Chance Act of 2007.  See our Coalition page.

  3. Build a group of chapters around the United States dedicated to assisting ex-offenders who aspire to fully rejoin society through their civility and good works by following our Credo.

  4. Build a national consensus that the collateral consequences of a conviction in an overwhelming majority of cases far outweigh the wrongfulness of the crime.  Saddled with life-long conviction records for minor offenses, many ex-offenders, as stated by Congressman Charles Rangel, are literally compelled by societal rejection back into a life of crime if for no other reason than just to feed themselves.

Why join?

First, to serve.  Serve whom?  To be blunt, to serve the vast group of people effected daily by the collateral consequences of a criminal conviction.  This includes the ex-offender and, of course, their family.  But, even more than that, you can greatly assist our Great Nation by helping TRP bring some common sense to this system of castigation that punishes long after it needs to.

Next, to save.  Save whom?  If you are an ex-offender struggling with the long-lingering after effects of your conviction you may be able to redeem yourself.  If you are a family member, or a friend, who lives daily with these consequences you may be able to receive assistance, as well.

Finally, to salve.  Salve what?  Our country has over the past 30 years has waged a war on itself.  It is a proven fact that, for example, that our minorities are incarcerated at rates far higher than their percentage of the population.  Our sentencing is the most draconian in the world.  Our prisons are bulging and federal judges, for example in California, are so worried about the consequences of inhumane treatment of our citizens that they are threatening a federal take-over.  The great wounds caused by our war upon ourselves can only be salved by compassion and undertaking a commitment to do it better.

How will my $25.00 be spent?

On internet expenses, bandwidth charges, on mailings to elected officials including stamps, printing and envelopes; on secretarial costs to assemble, proof read and mail letters; on all of the expenses necessary to aid in promoting the Classes of TRP.
